When we released the Betty Dress pattern we were so excited by how many of you bought it and by all the lovely comments we received. We’ve seen so many lovely dresses made up already – just check out our Pinterest board!
After the success of our first sewalong we are keen to start work on our next one. So today we’re announcing the Betty Dress sewalong and we really hope you will all join us.
And what’s more, this time we’re going to have a little competition and we’re going to be offering prizes…
We are always getting requests from customers asking if they can buy the new patterns we use for our classes. We really want to release more patterns and and it’s something we’re working really hard on, but as you can imagine it takes sooooo much hard work, time and planning. So that’s why we thought, why don’t we offer our patterns as prizes? So that’s what we’re going to do!
The prizes will be as follows:
1st Place – Any pattern of your choice (choose from ANY of our classes) + the fabric from our shop to make it
2nd Place – Any pattern of your choice (choose from ANY of our classes)
3rd Place – Any fabric from our shop (enough to make another Betty!)
Once the sewalong has finished we’re going to run a competition and we want YOU to be the judges. Send us your pictures and we’ll let you vote – the person with the most votes wins.
There might also be some Sew Over It points on offer for anyone who gets a bit fancy with some customising – you know we can’t resist!
So, the schedule for the sewalong looks like this:
– Friday 30th May – Measuring and Cutting
– Tuesday 3rd June – Sewing the bodice
– Thursday 5th June – Assembling the skirt
– Saturday 7th June – Sewing the bodice to the skirt
– Tuesday 10th June – Inserting the zip
– Thursday 12th June – Attaching the facing and assembling the shoulders
– Saturday 14th June – Sewing the hem
Once we have all finished sewing we will announce the competition deadline.
We’d love you to sew along with us.
If you want to join in here’s what you’re going to need:
– Betty Dress pattern (available from our online shop – we ship worldwide!)
– 3m of fabric at 140cm wide OR 4.5m of fabric at 115cm wide
– 16″ concealed zip
– standard zip foot (optional)
– concealed zip foot
– tape measure
– scissors (fabric and paper)
– needle and thread
– sewing machine
Our fabric recommendations for Betty range far and wide. You can use anything from a medium weight cotton, to cotton lawn, rayon and crepe. Cotton will give you a fuller skirt whereas a slinkier fabric such as rayon will drape beautifully. Have a look on our online shop for fabrics we’ve picked specifically for Betty.
