Candy shop 60s shift

Banner

I thought I would have one last flirt with summer this week and go all candy inspired. I have been playing around with some of the trimmings from India for our customising event at the Southbank Centre. We will be using these trimmings to help people customise their clothes. Details on their website here: http://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/whatson.

I hadn’t made a shift dress in a while so I thought it would be nice to use this lemon crepe I got from Mermaid Fabrics and then use some the candy stones to customise it.I was planning on just doing the neckline. So I marked it out with some tacking stitches.

But then I thought the cuffs could do with a little love so I added some there too.

I am so pleased with it. It isn’t my usual colour palette but I love how 60s it looks. I think it would be perfect for a wedding party or just a day in the shop (we are so lucky we an dress up every day and not feel silly!).

We have loads more of these stones in our shop and we will try and add them to the site so those of you who aren’t local can get stuck in too.
