Finishing techniques

In this workshop you will find out how to create neat, professional-looking seams and neckbands to give your handknitted accessories and garments a lift.  Messy seams and collars will be a thing of the past!  We will cover different sewing techniques such as mattress stitch, backstitch, flat seams, oversewing – and when each technique is best used – and picking up stitches evenly and neatly for edgings and neckbands.

Please bring along your own nearly-completed projects OR knit a series of samples in advance of the class: 2 squares in stocking stitch, 2 squares in moss or garter stitch, 1 triangle and 1 curved edge or a sample of a crew neck.  If you are knitting samples, they should be in DK weight yarn of any composition.
