Hey everyone! This is a very tired Lisa writing here. I am in the last few days of the shop fit in Islington and almost there. I am worried that by the time the shop opens I will have collapsed in exhaustion. I forgot how hard this was!
Anyway I have taken time out to tell you about a little bit of sewing I squeezed in last week when I was in Yorkshire. I made the Mortmain dress!
I chose a cotton we have in our shop. It is black with little pink roses so I figure I can wear tights with it which is perfect for this time of year.
The pattern was easy enough to make up. It probably took me about 4 hours to sew together. I made a size 10 and I didn’t need to make any alterations. I wanted to take it in at the waist to make it fit a little closer but I am glad I didn’t as it is nice to have a bit more room – makes it more comfortable to wear. And I can eat as much pasta as I like in it!
I did skip a step – I didn’t add the sleeve cuffs. Purely because I wanted to finish the dress quickly and figured I would wear it with a cardigan so the sleeves would be covered anyways. (Please excuse the less than great photos – my mum took them and the one below was taken whilst I was instructing my mum on how to use the camera on my iPhone.)
Definitely recommend the pattern – it is a good advanced beginner dress – as long as you don’t need to adjust the fit too much.
Now, back to my drill! Going to spend the day deciding what to make for the launch party. Any ideas??
