Fluffy Ultimate Shift Dress

I bought this fabric way back in summer when it was so hot and I thought, ‘Lisa you may not feel like this now but in winter you will love it’. I am glad I was so wise and over spent and bought this gorgeous fluffy fabric! I am not sure what the composition is but I reckon it is a wool, jersey mix. It is wonderfully soft and not at all itchy and the design is to die for.

When I get a fabric like this I often make a very simple garment out of it so that the fabric speaks for itself. Too much fuss would ruin it. So the Ultimate Shift dress was an obvious choice…

I love the fact that I dont need to put anything with this dress, no cardie or jacket, it is warm enough as it is 🙂

I was a little short for time this week and only had a couple of hours to make this so to save time I didn’t bother overlocking the edges, I just left them. As it is a knitted fabric it won’t fray.

I had to hand catch the neckline in a few places to help keep the facing in, but I would rather this than interface it (which I don’t like). And I hand stitched the sleeve and dress hem as I felt a machine stitch trotting along the outside would ruin this fabric.

And I made the whole thing whilst watching Dirty Dancing, making it the most enjoyable two hours ever!
