Ikat Weekend Bag

I am jetting off to some winter sun (sorry to boast). So me needs me a bag! It was our Weekend bag class last week and a few of us were inspired to make one too.

I decided to make it out of another of our Ikat fabrics from India and lined it in an Indian geometric cotton. My love affair with Indian fabrics continues….

The construction of the bag is really interesting. You start by sewing the straps onto the outside bag before it is constructed. It is made with a zip on a roll, with fabric tabs stitched to the ends to finish it.

The lining is machined to the zip which makes it really strong and then there is a nifty turning through bit at the end through a hole in the bottom of the lining. Sorry I explained that really badly!

Anyways, really pleased with it and I think the Caribbean will like it too 🙂
