1960's Twiggy Dress

Hello all! I am taking a little break from some serious DIY at the new shop to write this post. Already I am sick of paintbrushes, rollers and Ikea flat pack furniture! I miss my sewing machine.

This Twiggy dress was actually made a couple of weeks ago. I designed the pattern way back in Jan/Feb thinking it would be perfect for the colder weather. It has since been sitting in my wardrobe waiting to be sewn. I decided it was about time to bring her out for a twirl, especially now when 60’s silhouettes are all over the catwalks. So I brought her to life!

Twiggy is constructed in panels with princess seams instead of darts.

There is a cute little peter pan collar and 60’s cuffs to be made in a contrasting fabric. The dress fastens with a concealed zip down the centre back.

I made this first one out wool crepe which has a lovely weight to it so it drapes well and keeps the shape. The collar and cuffs are made from our black luxury crepe.

I am now planning a version in our tartan and maybe a sleeveless version in a cotton drill.

Twiggy will be a new class in Jan/Feb and will be available to book in a couple of weeks. So keep an eye out!
