Did you watch the Sewing Bee tonight? The competition is getting really tough now, isn’t it? Those fabrics were enough to make us squirm!
If you want to try your hand at working with tricky fabrics, our Lace Dress class might be the perfect thing for you.
Our teacher Julie has years of experience working for the country’s leading bridal designers, so she really is the perfect person to teach you the intricacies of working with lace. And if you book before Wednesday 11th March you can get 20% off the course with the code SEWINGBEE.
With princess seams and a sweetheart neckline, the Lace Dress is lined and embellished at the neckline with appliqued lace.
In the class you will first make adjustments to the pattern to fit your figure. Toiles will be provided so you can check the sizing visually. You will then learn how to mount lace onto lining, construct a dress with princess seams and a sweetheart neckline, insert a concealed zip and finish the neckline with machine appliqué.
You will also be shown various finishing techniques for sleeve hems, lace hem and lining. You will leave with your own pattern that has been altered to fit you. And the dress pattern would work with another fabric, so you could make the dress again at home out of say crepe and it would look completely different. Two dresses in one pattern!
Feeling confident and want to give it a go? To book or to find out more information about the class, have a look on our website.
