Announcing the 1940's Wrap Dress Sewalong Last week we were incredibly excited to bring you our 1940’s Wrap Dress pattern. It was one of the first patterns we designed to teach in our London classes, so after all these years we were eager to release it – it seems that you had been waiting! Thank you for the fantastic reception. We’ve been delighted to see some finished versions on the #SOI1940swrapdress hashtag already! The 1940’s Wrap Dress is an intermediate level pattern with lots of great techniques to learn. With everything from sleeves to a collar, pleats to bias binding, we know there are a few techniques not everyone will have tried before. So today we’re announcing our 1940’s Wrap Dress sewalong, to offer a helping hand as you fit and sew your own version at home. Announcing the 1940's Wrap Dress Sewalong Meet the pattern The 1940’s Wrap Dress is a stylish, sophisticated vintage-inspired woven wrap dress with beautiful detailing. It features a wrap front bodice with a front collar and pretty shoulder pleats. The bodice gathers into the uniquely-shaped pointed waistband, and the dress closes with hidden buttons or press studs. Sew Over It 1940's Wrap Dress sewing pattern The slightly A-line wrap skirt is flattering on all shapes, and the narrow sleeves mean you can pair this dress with your favourite jumper or cardi. Both the sleeves and skirt come with a choice of two different lengths. Announcing the 1940's Wrap Dress Sewalong What is a sewalong? In the 1940’s Wrap Dress sewalong we’re going to break down the instructions into tiny baby steps that anyone can manage. Every couple of days we’ll post a new blog post on our website, which you can follow along with. Each post contains step-by-step reference photos and lots of tips and tricks. We’ll start with fitting and pattern alterations, and then we’ll sew at a gentle pace so that everyone has time to join in. And we offer email support too, so if there’s anything you’re confused about, just drop us an email.     Hi Lisa. Thank you so much for deciding to do a sewalong for this pattern. My daughter wants me to make a version of it for her works Xmas do on 2 December, so the timing couldn’t be better. As I am a beginner I thought her expectations were greater than my skills but if I take my time and sew along I’m hoping I’ll be fine. ☺

    This is a beautiful dress! I am sewing the 1950’s walk-away dress. It’s nice to find different kinds of wrap dresses from this era.
