It’s new pattern time!! It’s been a while since we brought you a skirt, so we thought we’d better make it a good one. Welcome the Lizzie Skirt pattern!
Everyone needs a pleated skirt in their wardrobe, and the Lizzie Skirt pattern will be your new go-to! Massively versatile, Lizzie will be your best friend wherever you’re going – whether it’s work, weekend or weddings.
The Lizzie Skirt has pleats, in-seam pockets, a full lining, a waistband and a concealed zip, meaning there is tonnes to learn for beginners, while intermediate and advanced sewers will enjoy a fun, quick sew.
With lots of fabric options, Lizzie is incredibly versatile and makes a wonderful pattern to see you through all seasons. Make her in a lovely crisp cotton lawn for summer, or a lightweight wool for a warm winter skirt.
Pleated skirts can sometimes be quite bulky, but with this pattern the pleats are carefully concentrated at the front and back of the skirt for gorgeous fullness, while the side seams are left pleat-free for a flattering, hip-skimming effect.
Lisa’s favourite shape, the Lizzie Skirt is 1950s-inspired in style, with a flattering cinched-in waist. It is a classic knee-length, but thanks to its straight hem, can be easily lengthened or shortened to suit you.
The inside of the Lizzie Skirt is beautifully finished with a separately drafted A-line cut lining, minimising bulk at the pleats. Use rayon or cotton lawn for a lightweight summery lining, or a high quality acetate for a tights-friendly skirt.
Dress Lizzie up or down depending on your fabric choice. A pretty printed cotton will be your go-to for summer days out, or choose a fancy brocade for a special evening co-ord outfit!
