The Chic Cape is fully lined and features armhole slits between the front and side seams.

It has a pretty rounded collar and closes at the front with press studs which are disguised with self-covered buttons. You know what that means… no buttonholes!!

Because the cape is completely lined there is no need for any seam finishes, which makes this a perfect project if you don’t have an overlocker.

Love love love this! I’ve been looking for a pattern like this for ages — buuuut I’m preggers, due in late February. Any ideas on how/if I need to adjust this for a growing tummy? I’ll make a size 20 anyway so can’t really just grade up. Or would I be better off making the Lola coat, as I think Lisa suggested in a recent blog post? I’ve already got a kimono on the go. Any thoughts much appreciated! Jess X

Aw so pleased you like it! We actually wouldn’t make any adjustments for a baby bump, but do bear in mind that it only buttons up at the top, so even if you do make adjustments it’s likely to open up of its own accord around your bump anyway. The Lola Coat worked really well for Lisa during her pregnancy, and it’s another one you wouldn’t have to adjust. The extra fabric in the waterfall front will keep you nice and covered up and cosy 🙂

Great, thanks so much! Can’t wait to get cracking with it. It’ll be my first proper hand made coat. 🙂
