There’s a new lady in town! We know a lot of you have been waiting for this pattern and we’re so excited to finally set her free… Welcome Coco to the Sew Over It collection!
Inspired by the classic Chanel boucle tweed jacket, Coco is stylish, flattering, ever-wearable and guaranteed to never go out of style.
Throw her on over any outfit to add that little bit of chic elegance to your look. She’s perfect for that awkward in-between weather, where it’s too cold for bare arms but too warm for a coat. Essentially she’s a September life-saver – we’d better get cracking!
A simple cropped jacket, Coco features a pretty round neck, princess seams, two-piece sleeve, full lining and optional braiding.
Pairing beautifully with a high-waist, we love her over the Betty Dress for a beautiful wedding guest outfit. Or channel your inner Jackie O and sew an Ultimate Pencil Skirt in the same fabric to make a sassy co-ord suit.
With clean style lines, Coco is the perfect blank canvas. Make a statement with a bold, bright fabric, or keep it classic with an exquisite plain cloth. Have fun with textures for a truly luxurious jacket the real Coco would be proud of.
Designed with intermediate stitchers in mind, Coco makes a great first jacket pattern for those with a few dressmaking projects under their belt but no experience of sewing outerwear. There are some lovely new techniques to learn!

So am I right that there is no way of fastening/ closing the jacket? How easy would it be to insert open ended zip ( or another alternative- any ideas?) as I like to be able to do my jackets up if it gets a bit chilly
Hi Ann, yes you’re right. Coco isn’t designed to overlap at the front, so if you wanted to add a closure you would need to extend the jacket at the front to create the wrap. It sounds like you might be better trying our Chloe Coat, which does have a zip or press stud closure, and just shortening it: http://sewoverit.co.uk/product/intro-to-sewing-coats-online-class/
Are there any closures? Buttons or hooks or anything of that sort?
Nope it doesn’t fasten shut as the front isn’t designed to overlap very much. But you could always adapt the pattern for a closure! Alternatively try our Chloe Coat, which is similar in design but closes with a zip or press studs: http://sewoverit.co.uk/product/intro-to-sewing-coats-online-class/ 🙂
Hi I have just discovered your website during Corona 19 isolation and although haven’t sewn much for the last few years have decided to give it a go. I love princess line but I have a high bustline -always feel I need to lift shoulder seam up by about
1 inch front and back to make store bought dresses sit right. Please how do I make pattern changes to accommodate this without messing up the armhole fit?
I’d recommend making a toile first just to check if you need to make this alteration! Then if you definitely do need to and you can’t find any tutorials online, drop us an email and we’ll try to help!
