The Grace Dress was our very first online class pattern, way back in March 2015! Since then lots of you have been asking us for the pattern on its own. As part of our mission to release all of the patterns from our Classic Course online classes, we’re delighted to finally oblige!
Grace is here!
Versatile, fun and fabulous, the Grace Dress will take you from season to season in style.
Depending on your fabric choice she’s both your best Christmas party outfit and the perfect summer dress – a wardrobe workhorse you’ll want to make again and again.
The Grace Dress sewing pattern has a semi-fitted, darted bodice with a wide, scooped neckline and optional cap sleeves.
The skirt is gathered and features in-seam pockets and an invisible zip in the centre back.
Adding the optional waist tie will give you a more fitted silhouette – but still leaves you with the option to loosen it if it’s a hot day, or should you have a big dinner on the cards!
Depending on the season, the Grace Dress can be made in a variety of fabrics. You’re looking for a woven fabric with some body, as you’ll want it to hold the shape of the bodice and skirt.
For warmer seasons we recommend breathable fabrics such as cotton lawn, cotton poplin and cotton twill.
For cooler months heavier fabrics such as brocade, jacquard, wool suiting and crepes with some body, such as our Rio crepe and triple crepe, are perfect.
