Lace Circle Skirt

I am really into skirts at the moment. Mainly because I have just bought some lovely cropped cardis and I think they look great with a full circle skirt.
I decided to make this one because I saw an image of something similar online and  I fell in love with it. I love the blush colour and the combination of lace with and similar colour underlay.

I used our circle skirt pattern from the Intro to Dressmaking class, and pinched some pockets from another pattern.

The lace has a slight stretch to it. The underlay is rayon. Both hems dropped as predicted so I hung the skirt up after I finished it. I left it for a week and allowed it to drop as much as it was going to. (This is basically where the bias hits the hem and then the fabric stretches.)

I then levelled it so it was even. I was planning on hemming the two layers but decided I love them left as raw edges. I guess I can always hem them later.

I mounted the rayon waistband with the lace before I stitched it together so it was like working with one fabric. For those of you who have done this class and have the pattern I doubled the width of the waistband. You could also use the Betty Dress pattern for this, . Maybe we should do a tutorial for it..??
