We’re Hiring A Marketing Manager Specialising In Digital And Ecommerce

Overview

Founded in 2011, Sew Over It is now the UK’s biggest sewing brand; offering a wide range of sewing patterns, an online Stitch School, copyshop printing and fabric. In 2020, we moved the business to a completely digital model and we are now looking for an experienced marketing manager to help us grow the business both in the UK and internationally.

Purpose of role

The role of Marketing Manager is to develop, direct and manage our CRM, digital marketing, social media, advertising and PR strategies to maximise user acquisition levels, conversion rates and market share. You are responsible for planning, creating campaigns, promoting and ensuring that all brand and messaging is aligned.

You will manage a part-time Social Media Executive, responsible for running our busy social media channels, and a Content Marketing Manager, responsible for creating the content on-site and for CRM.

As a member of the senior management team, you are also responsible for the on-going development of the company’s culture, ethos, and management style.

Duties & responsibilities

To lead the long-term vision for the development of Sew Over It as the leading provider of digital sewing content in the UK and, ultimately internationally.

Be the owner of the Sew Over It and Stitch School websites with a focus on delivering the website KPIs and actively trading the website.

Set out annual marketing plans with detailed costings for approval by the founder. Work within these agreed budgets to deliver the marketing strategy effectively.

To lead, direct and deliver effective marketing strategies across all relevant channels with a view to maximising sales and market share. Manage all digital marketing channels, working with internal and external partners, including digital marketing agencies, to deliver the specific channel goals.

Develop effective and appealing marketing creative for use across all channels and negotiate and acquire cost-effective media online, in print and at events.

Create, execute and maintain an effective Customer Relationship Management programme, driving ongoing engagement of registered users with the ultimate aim of maximising conversion rates

Develop and lead the brand’s social media strategy across all channels, new and existing.

Create a unique on-site and off-site SEO/Keywords strategy and monitor and improve the overall SEO and PPC strategy

Manage the day-to-day relationship with our website development partner. This includes planning small changes to the website and managing a road map of enhancements to the website that will improve the website experience

Develop an ongoing PR strategy within the sewing, craft and lifestyle sectors, building strong relationships with key influencers in the press, on and offline.

Oversee the application of our brand guidelines across every aspect of the business; ensuring brand consistency is delivered online across all online channels

Lead, manage and motivate the part-time social media and content marketing managers including annual appraisals, salary reviews and strategy. Assist in the resolution of HR issues among your teams where necessary.

Actively participate in the direction of the company, compliance with relevant legislation and strategic planning through attendance of regular update meetings, finance reviews and strategy days.

About you

You will be accustomed to developing, managing and implementing effective digital marketing strategies. You will have experience working on an ecommerce brand and can demonstrate growth.

You will have a highly analytical mind and will enjoy crunching numbers and understanding what works. You will need excellent time management and organisation skills and be confident in leading a project and working with others.

A passion for and understanding of the home dressmaking scene would be ideal but is not essential in order to fully understand the brand and our market.

Skills

  • 2-3 years experience at Marketing Manager within an ecommerce environment
  • Agency management experience, including digital marketing, web development
  • Experience of WordPress and WooCommerce
  • SEO, including familiarity with SEO plugin tools and the latest in search best practice
  • Comprehensive knowledge of PPC
  • Understanding of Google Analytics, UX and social media metrics
  • Experience in CRM (we use Mailchimp)
  • Understanding of the merchandising process
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to problem-solve

  • Some working from home during COVID-19 restrictions
  • Monday to Friday 9-5pm

  • Marketing qualifications or equivalent
