The April showers have been out in full force in London since the beginning of this month, but we know the sun has to make an appearance soon – right??
We’ve got something that might hurry it out of hiding… Meet our spring-perfect new pattern, Emmeline!
Emmeline is a flattering, high-waisted skirt with a button front, beautiful bow belt and half-stitched inverted box pleats.
The waist features a narrow waistband with belt loops to keep the belt in place.
To create an elegant, slimline effect, the pleats are partly stitched, which is ideal for anyone who wants to avoid adding extra volume to their waist and tummy.
50’s inspired with a modern edge, Emmeline sits just below the knee – the perfect length for spring and summer.
The Emmeline Skirt is a lovely afternoon project for beginners onwards. With inverted box pleats, buttonholes and a waistband there’s lots of new techniques for sewing newbies to get stuck into, whilst she’ll be a nice quick sew for anyone who has made a few garments before.
When it comes to fabric choices, you can have lots of fun with Emmeline. We recommend a light to medium weight stable woven fabric such as cotton poplin, lawn, linen, viscose linen and broderie anglaise. For floral lovers, she works beautifully in our range of Lisa Comfort lawns.
Got love for the Emmeline Skirt? We can’t wait to see your versions!
