Intro to Overlocking: Molly Dress & Top

Intro to Overlocking :: Molly Top and Molly Dress :: Sew Over It London Sewing Classes

Master the overlocker whilst making our versatile Molly Dress! With the option to shorten the length you can make it into a top as well if separates are more your thing. This class will not only teach you how to sew the Molly Dress but also how to properly use and understand overlockers.

Never out of style, a basic jersey dress is always a must-have in any wardrobe. Style it up with a breton stripe, or colour block for a more funky look. The perfect pattern for using an overlocker for the first time, Molly will be a hit with anyone who likes a quick, satisfying sew. What’s more, make it in a lighter weight jersey and Molly makes a perfect casual top.

Lesson 1:  Introduce you to overlockers. How to: thread them, explanation of what all the dials do, practise using them on different fabrics, sew a rolled hem, disengage the blade. You will leave with samples that you can keep for reference. You will then cut out the fabric for your dress/top. Our teacher will give you lots of tips and tricks throughout the class.

Lesson 2: Thread up your overlocker ready for the class. Sew up your dress/top.

You will leave with a finished dress, detailed handout with samples to support it and a pattern so you can make more at home.

Your sewing level:

This is not a beginner’s class (although you can be new to overlockers). We will expect you to have a couple of dressmaking projects under your belt such as the Full Circle Skirt and Ultimate Shift Dress from our Dressmaking Weekend class.

Tea and treats will be provided to help the sewing process along!
