Today we’re very excited to be releasing our newest PDF pattern out into the world: the Cowl Neck Dress!
The Cowl Neck Dress was one of the first Sew Over It classes we designed and it proved so popular that we thought we’d turn it into a pattern for you to download.
The Cowl Neck Dress is the perfect introduction to working with jersey. The pattern is as simple as you can get: a front piece, back piece and a sleeve piece. That’s all you need! There are no darts, facings or tricky closures to contend with. Seriously, you can whip up one of these babies in less than an hour.
Excellent for jersey newbies as well as those who have made a few stretch garments before, the Cowl Neck Dress is a versatile staple you’ll want to make again and again. The cowl detail keeps it interesting but the simplicity of the pattern ensures a quicky snappy sew. You’ll want to use a light to medium weight jersey for this pattern. Grab yourself a ball point needle and you’re on your way.
Never sewn a cowl before and worried it might be tricky? Don’t worry, it’s not! The pattern piece does look a bit funny admittedly but there’s no extra sewing involved. It’s quick and easy!
Versatility is at the core of this pattern, and as well as a dress there is also a top option. And you can choose between long or short sleeves as the season dictates. Perfect for the office yet equally happy sipping drinks at the bar, make a few of these and you’ll never be short of something to wear.
The Cowl Neck is a great mix and match pattern too. Try the top variation with the Ultimate Trousers or Pencil Skirt, or throw on your Coco Jacket over the dress and you’re good to go!
Never sewn with jersey before and want to give this a go, but need some additional pointers? Keep your eyes peeled because next month we will be putting up a couple of sewalong posts with lots of helpful hints and tips to help you along.
