Demystify pattern cutting with our ultimate pattern drafting class!
Pattern cutting can seem like magic, believe me we know how confusing it can be! However many sewers want to take the plunge into pattern cutting so they can create clothes perfectly designed for them. If this sounds up your street then our Pattern Cutting Intensive class may be the perfect class to get you well and truly on your pattern cutting journey.
Over a weekend you’ll learn how to draft a bodice and skirt block perfectly designed for your body. This will involve taking measurements and drawing out a pattern on paper. You’ll then use your new pattern to make up a toile to try on. Once you’ve got your toile fitting perfectly, Layla will show you how to alter your basic block into any design you fancy!
Layla is our resident all round teacher. She’s an expert in all things sewing & pattern cutting, and can answer any sewing question with ease. She also has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the indie pattern world and will inspire you to sew up an entire handmade wardrobe in no time.
We like to keep our class sizes small at Sew Over It, giving you lots of one on one time with your teacher and the opportunity to ask as many questions as you can think of! The maximum class size for Pattern Cutting Intensive is six.
Included in the price of the course:
All the pattern paper you need to draft your pattern, and all the calico you need to sew up a toile. You’ll also get comprehensive instructions to take home with you so you can carry on your pattern cutting journey at home.
You will need to bring:
Something close fitting to wear for measurement taking. Getting accurate measurements is key to success in pattern cutting, so wearing something close fitting is really useful, you don’t have to wear them all weekend but bringing a pair of leggings and a close fitting top will make measuring a breeze.
