Because of the number of techniques involved, the Charlotte Dress is an intermediate level sewing pattern. We recommend you are confident inserting an invisible zip, stitching pleats and working with facings.
To ensure the fabric will be able to hold the pleats and the collar, Charlotte is best made in a medium weight woven fabric with drape, such as medium weight crepe, lightweight wool, linen, or a linen viscose mix. We recommend the fabric has some body, and suggest avoiding lightweight fabrics such as rayon challis, georgette and silk. Charlotte looks completely different made in a patterned fabric versus a solid colour, so there’s lots of fun to be had when designing your dress. To find the perfect fabric, have a look at our specially curated suggestions.
The Charlotte Dress PDF sewing pattern is sized between UK sizes 8-20. See the chart for details on fabric requirements.
Like all our patterns, the sizes are nested to make it easier to grade between the sizes, depending on your measurements.

So what is a PDF pattern?
A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home. Simply download, print, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm.
