Chic Cape PDF Sewing Pattern

The Chic Cape is an elegant, stylish and oh-so cosy cover-up, perfect for Autumn and Winter.

With a nod to French elegance, it’s something you can throw on over any outfit and feel instantly put-together. And it’ll pair so perfectly with your favourite pom pom hat!

The Chic Cape is fully lined and features armhole slits between the front and side seams. It has a pretty rounded collar and closes at the front with press studs (disguised with self-covered buttons! That’s right, no buttonholes!). Because the cape is completely lined there is no need for any seam finishes, which makes this a perfect project if you don’t have an overlocker.

Sewing Level
The Chic Cape sewing pattern is designed for advanced beginner to intermediate sewers. With relatively simple construction, it’s a perfect project for those who have never sewn outerwear before.

Fabric Suggestions
The Chic Cape works best in medium to heavyweight coating fabrics with some drape, such as boiled wool, melton, boucle and wool blends.

Fabric Requirements
The Chic Cape is sized between UK sizes 8-20. See the chart for details on fabric requirements.

Like all our patterns, the sizes are nested to make it easier to grade between the sizes, depending on your measurements.

What will I receive?
The downloadable pattern file contains:

  • printable pattern (in both tiled print-at-home and copyshop format)
  • fully-photographed printable instruction booklet
  • copyshop permission letter

The Chic Cape pattern is either 54 A4/US letter pages, or 3 A0 copyshop pages.

If you purchase the PDF Pattern + Copyshop Printing option, you will also receive your pattern printed on A0 paper in the post. Find out more about our PDF Printing Service here.

So what is a PDF pattern?
A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home on A4 or US letter paper. Alternatively you can choose to have the copyshop files printed on large A0 paper, and posted to you at home. If you’re using the A4 or US letter options, simply download, print at home, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm.
