If you want to learn to sew with jersey, this pattern is the perfect introduction. A stylish jersey dress with an interesting cowl neckline, it ticks a lot of our boxes: simple to sew and easy to wear!

The construction is as straightforward as you can get: a front piece, back piece and a sleeve piece. That’s all you need! There are no darts, facings or tricky closures to contend with. You can whip up one of these babies in less than an hour.

Versatility is at the core of this pattern, and as well as a dress there is also a top option. And you can choose between long or short sleeves as the season dictates. Perfect for the office yet equally happy sipping drinks at the bar, make a few Cowl Neck Dresses and Tops and you’ll never be short of something to wear.

Fabric Requirements
The Cowl Neck sewing pattern is sized between UK sizes 8-18. See the chart for details on fabric requirements.

Like all our patterns, the sizes are nested to make it easier to grade between the sizes, depending on your measurements.

What will I receive?
The downloadable pattern file contains:

  • printable pattern (in both tiled print-at-home and copyshop format)
  • fully-photographed printable instruction booklet
  • imperial/metric conversion size chart
  • copyshop permission letter

The Cowl Neck Dress pattern is either 40 A4/US letter pages, or 2 A0 copyshop pages.

If you purchase the PDF Pattern + Copyshop Printing option, you will also receive your pattern printed on A0 paper in the post. Find out more about our PDF Printing Service here.

So what is a PDF pattern?
A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home on A4 or US letter paper. Alternatively you can choose to have the copyshop files printed on large A0 paper, and posted to you at home. If you’re using the A4 or US letter options, simply download, print at home, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm.
