The Joan Dress is an intermediate level sewing pattern. We recommend you have experience inserting an invisible zip, as well as attaching sleeves.
Joan works beautifully in a variety of different woven fabrics. We recommend using a medium weight drapey fabric with some structure – you don’t want to use anything too lightweight and fluid. For the cooler months lightweight wools work gorgeously and suiting fabrics are perfect. Crepes such as our Triple Crepe or Rio Crepe would be stunning. For the lining we like to use rayon, a lightweight crepe de chine or acetate. Check our online shop selection for fabrics we’ve picked specifically for the pattern.
The Joan Dress comes in UK sizes 8-20. See the chart for details on fabric requirements.
Like all our patterns, the sizes are nested to make it easier to grade between the sizes, depending on your measurements.

So what is a PDF pattern?
A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home. Simply download, print, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A DOWNLOADABLE PATTERN WHICH YOU HAVE TO PRINT AT HOME. At the end of the checkout process you will receive an email with the link to your pattern and instructions.
