The Kimono Jacket is made of just four pieces, making it a great pattern for beginners getting to grips with lightweight drapey fabrics. With no tricky zips or buttonholes, it’s quick to construct. A satisfying evening project!
The Kimono Jacket sewing pattern is perfect for advanced beginner sewers onwards. With fairly simple construction, the difficulty comes mostly in working with lightweight, drapey fabrics, so we recommend you have some experience of sewing these. With its super simple design, our Silk Cami pattern is a great place to start. As it’s designed to be loose, fitting is super easy with the Kimono Jacket.
For the Kimono Jacket we recommend lightweight woven fabrics with lots of drape, such as rayon, viscose, georgette and lightweight crepes. For more beginner stitchers, it would also look lovely in a lightweight cotton such as lawn or voile. With minimal seams, the Kimono Jacket makes a statement with a big bold print, but looks equally lovely with a small repeat for an understated look. For inspiration and to find the perfect fabric, have a look at our specially curated suggestions.
The Kimono Jacket sewing pattern is available in sizes XS-XL, which equates roughly to UK sizes 8-18. Due to the loose-fitting nature of the Kimono Jacket, if you are outside of these sizes, it is possible that the pattern will also fit you. See the size chart for details on measurements and fabric requirements.
Like all our patterns, the sizes are nested to make it easier to grade between the sizes, depending on your measurements.
