We’re willing the sun to appear with the Martha Dress!

Designed for wovens, Martha is perfect for summer fabrics like linen and cotton. She looks fabulous in ginghams, spots, plains, just about anything really! Depending on the fabric that you use, the Martha Dress could also double up for a stunning evening dress. She’d look effortlessly glam in a luxurious or bold print.

Fitted with darts, the Martha Dress bodice is designed to be a snug fit, with pleats leading into a dramatic long sash. The wrap over bodice allows you to cinch the waist in or leave it a little loose – whatever you prefer, and perfect for after picnic comfort! When sewing up Martha, you’ll have the choice of two skirt lengths; just below the knee or midi. Both work perfectly whether you’re throwing on your trusty white pumps, or dressing up in heels. The bias cut skirts also give you plenty of swishing potential.

The Martha Dress is finished with a centre back concealed zip, and pocket fans – this is one for you! The Martha Dress has in seam pockets to make her as functional as she is gorgeous.

Sewing Level

The Martha Dress is an Intermediate sewing pattern.

Fabric Suggestions

We recommend medium weight woven fabrics for Martha, such as cotton poplin, sateen, linen, viscose linen blends, heavier viscose/viscose twills, stable seersuckers, chambray, stable crepes and brocade. Due to the bias cut skirt, we advise against choosing fabric with a strong directional print.

Pattern Sizes & Fabric Requirements

The Martha Dress sewing pattern is available in UK sizes 6-30. The pattern is split into two different blocks, sizes 6-20 (B cup) and sizes 18-30 (D cup). See the size charts below for details on fabric requirements.

What is a PDF pattern?

A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home on A4 or US letter paper.

Choose to add on A0 printing and we will print the pattern on our A0 printers and post it to you so all you need to access digitally is the instruction booklet.

If you're using the A4 or US letter options, simply download, print at home, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm. Never used a PDF pattern before and would like some help? Learn everything you need to know in our free tutorial How to Assemble a PDF Pattern

Is this sewing pattern layered?

Yes! This pattern is layered so you can print off just the size(s) that you need. Find out more about layering here.

Like all our patterns, the sizes are nested to make it easier to grade between the sizes, depending on your measurements.
