Sara Dungarees PDF Sewing Pattern

The Sara Dungarees are dungarees for people who don’t wear dungarees. (Though if you’re a dungaree aficionado you’ll love these too!) Grown-up, sophisticated and chic, they are great for those of you loving the dungaree craze, but who prefer cleaner lines and sleeker silhouettes.

When Lisa designed the Sara Dungarees she wanted them to be minimal in style, so the fuss-free bib features no front fastenings, topstitching or bib pockets. Instead, the straps neatly fasten at the back waist with buttons, with the waistband hitting the natural waist. They open at the side seam with an invisible zip and are shaped with darts at the back. The legs flare very slightly to an on-trend, flattering bootcut.

With two options, you can also choose to make just the trousers. An everyday workwear staple, the trousers look great with a light jumper or smart blouse, such as the Pussy Bow Blouse.

The Sara Dungarees have loads of hacking potential. Widen or taper the legs depending on your style, or attach the bib to the skirt of your choice for a modern pinafore dress!

Sewing Level
The Sara Dungarees is an intermediate level pattern. The construction itself is not too tricky, but we recommend you have some experience of fitting trousers.

Like all our patterns, the sizes are nested to make it easier to grade between the sizes, depending on your measurements.

What will I receive?
The downloadable pattern file contains:

  • printable pattern (in both tiled print-at-home and copyshop format)
  • fully-illustrated printable instruction booklet
  • imperial/metric conversion size chart
  • copyshop permission letter

The Sara Dungarees pattern is either 29 A4/US letter pages, or 2 A0 copyshop pages.

So what is a PDF pattern?
A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home on A4 or US letter paper. Alternatively you can choose to have the copyshop files printed on large A0 paper, and posted to you at home. If you’re using the A4 or US letter options, simply download, print at home, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm.
