A great first project for a man, the Tie is quick to sew and, if you make it in some funky fabric, fun to wear. Why not use the scraps from a handmade dress and create matching outfits?
A great opportunity to practise both your machine and hand sewing techniques, the tie is something that can be worn and appreciated forever.
Light to medium weight woven fabrics such as cotton and cotton lawn for the main fabric and lining. A strip of domette will also be required for the interlining. (You can find this here.)
Main body of tie – 70cm (for both 140cm and 115cm wide fabric)
Lining – a piece of fabric measuring 30cm x 20cm
Domette – a 10cm x 150cm wide strip OR a 20cm x 75cm piece

The Tie pattern is 16 pages long.
So what is a PDF pattern? A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home. Simply download, print, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 2 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm.
