Intro to Quilting: Log Cabin Quilt Class

Want to learn how to make a quilt? We’ve got the perfect quilting class! Learn the techniques involved in log cabin patchwork quilting. We will show you how to design your patchwork top, position your fabrics, sew it all together and quilt it!

Everyone will get a chance to start their own project in this quilting class and then we will make sure you know how to finish it at home. Please note you probably won’t be able to finish your projects in the class. You can choose how large or small you want your quilt to be.

Your sewing level:

You will need to know how to use a sewing machine already and how to thread it.  You will have ideally taken our Intro to Sewing class or be at the equivalent level.

Cake and tea are provided to help the sewing process along!

Level: 2

  • Have used a sewing machine before
  • Can thread a sewing machine
  • Can sewing a straight line and follow a seam allowance

Class length: Two 3 hours sessions

Materials required: You will need to bring or buy some fabric and we also have a selection of remnants you can use. The quantity of fabric you need will depend on the size of your project. For a 1m x 1m quilt you will need at least 6 x 0.25m of fabric for patchwork, a further 0.5m for binding and 1m for the backing
