Last weekend I spent the whole weekend sewing in the Cath Kidston window! It was to celebrate the launch of Cath’s new Sewing Book. I was asked to sew four of my favourite projects from the book, so that is what I did.
I was based in the flagship store in Piccadilly (which if you haven’t been is amazing – so much extra of everything!).
They very kindly gave me two dresses to wear over the weekend. My favourite was the Scattered Stars dress I am wearing here. Although it felt really strange to be wearing a dress that other people were wearing!
I sat right in the front window. At first it was a bit strange as passers-by kept staring and taking photos, but then I got into it and it felt like I was in my own sewing room drinking tea and biscuits and doing exactly what I love – sewing!
The book is great for beginner sewers and for more experienced sewers who want to enjoy a few interesting and easier projects than a full-on dressmaking project.
I managed to make the handbag, the travel sewing kit, the sewing machine cover, two fabric trays, oil cloth lunch bag and an wash bag made from toweling. They would all make fab Christmas presents. There is also an amazing sewing machine tidy in the book which I am planning to make next – such a good idea.
Love the styling!
Whilst I was busy sewing in the window, Rachel was teaching workshops in the store. We had a drop in embroidery workshop as well as a zip purse class – all projects from the book.
We both had such a lovely weekend in Cath Kidston world. Everyone was so lovely and made us feel at home. Thank you guys!
Make sure you keep an eye out on their social media feeds and news page as they are always putting on great customer events – you don’t want to miss them!
