Sorry folks for the delay… I am struggling to keep up with my weekly sewing on top of writing my second book. But every now and then I can squeeze in the odd dress for myself 😉
I have been interested in trying out Betty or Joan in a jersey for a while now. This jersey is from our shop and has a lovely weight to it.
I decided to make another Betty/Joan child …. I shortened the length of the skirt to make it a bit more contemporary (just a little!).
Then for a special twist I added decoration to the collar with a lace doily. You just pin the doily to the neckline and then cut out the collar shape you want, ensuring there is enough seam allowance to attach it to the dress.
Then sandwich it with the facing. I also decided to catch it in a few places to help it stay flat but you could keep it loose like a regular collar.
