Make Dorothy weather-proof with the Add-On Hood. The great news is that if you’ve already made the jacket, there is no unstitching involved to attach the hood, as we’ve made it detachable!

In the Stitch School Workshop, we’ll show you how to sew a neatly lined hood that connects to the Dorothy Jacket with simple press stud fastenings or buttons & buttonholes.

Sewing Level

The Dorothy Jacket Add-On Hood Workshop is easy enough for Confident Beginners, however, the hood is an Add-On to the Dorothy Jacket, which is an Intermediate sewing pattern.

Fabric Suggestions

The Dorothy Jacket and Add-On Hood are perfect for medium weight fabrics, such as cotton twill, cotton drill, twill crepe, gabardine, stretch denim and heavier linens. Try a waterproof fabric to make a great raincoat! For the Hood lining, you can use the same fabric as the outer hood, or use a cotton fabric in coordinating or contrast colours.

Pattern Sizes & Fabric Requirements

The Dorothy Jacket and Add-On Hood are sized between UK sizes 6-30 and is split into two different blocks: sizes 6-20 (B cup) and sizes 18-30 (D cup). See the chart images for details on fabric requirements.

What is a PDF pattern?

A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home on A4 or US letter paper.

Choose to add on A0 printing and we will print the pattern on our A0 printers and post it to you so all you need to access digitally is the instruction booklet.

If you're using the A4 or US letter options, simply download, print at home, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm.
